Art Beyond Sight: How AI Helped Veronica Share Her Imagination by Verajcreations

Veronica recently reached out to share her story with me and I would like to share it with you because we need more stories, like hers that celebrate the best in us even amid everything else.

When Veronica was just four years old, her world changed forever.
A brain tumour stole most of her sight, transforming the childhood discovery of the emerging world around her into a haze of fading light. From perfect vision to near-total blindness, almost overnight.

And yet, one thing remained: her love of art.
Even as a child, Veronica would lose herself in colouring books and crayons. Art wasn’t just something she did, it was part of who she was. That creative spark never left her, even when the world turned dark.

Veronica's Story

When I first discovered AI art, one of the things that moved me most was its power to unlock creative expression for people with vivid imaginations but limited tools. To move us from passive consumers to engaged creators. People like Veronica, people with stories, visions, and whole inner worlds just waiting to be seen.
This is her story, in her own words.

Please take a few minutes to read it below—and if you’re moved, visit her Instagram page and her online store.
In a time when so much feels uncertain, Veronica’s story is a shining reminder of the power of technology, creativity, and the human spirit.

When I was four years old, I lost my sight. Up until that point, I had perfect vision. I remember light, colour, and shapes. I remember loving art. I was always drawn to it—filling colouring books, scribbling happily, creating little scenes with my crayons. Art felt like something I was, not just something I did. That love for creativity never left me, even as the world around me turned dark.

Growing up without sight, I often wondered what might’ve been if I had kept my vision. Would I have been an illustrator? A painter? Would people be seeing the images I saw so clearly in my mind? For a long time, it felt like a door had been closed—until artificial intelligence unlocked it again.

Now, thanks to AI, I can finally express the art that still lives within me. The technology allows me to take what’s in my imagination and translate it into something visual—something I can share. I describe what I see in my mind: a castle floating in the sky, dragons flying over oceans, waterfalls that shimmer like crystal—and the AI brings it to life. People often ask, “But what do you do?” My answer is simple: I create. I think. I envision. The AI is just the hand that draws for me. It doesn’t replace my creativity—it reflects it.

It’s funny how surprised people are when they see the results. They ask, “That came from you?” I smile and say, “Yes, it did.” I do ask sighted friends to describe the final image to me, to make sure it matches the vision I had in my mind. Sometimes there are small changes to make, and sometimes it’s exactly what I imagined. But the heart of it—the concept, the feeling, the vision—is mine.

There’s a common idea that creativity is only for those who can physically execute it. But imagination doesn’t belong to the eyes. It belongs to the soul.

AI has given me a way to pursue my passion with confidence and purpose. It’s more than just art—it’s a form of empowerment. I now feel that I can accomplish what I would have if I had kept my sight. I can dream again, and not just keep those dreams locked inside.

To those who wonder how someone who can’t see can create art, I say this: just because you can’t see the stars doesn’t mean you can’t reach them.

And with the right tools, imagination becomes limitless.
