Madeleine De Angelis

I spend hours making observational sketches and photos that results in an intense emotional study of light and texture.

I studied fashion at Eastbourne College of Art (HND) and then won a bursary to the Harrow School of Art and passed with Excellence in fashion design.

Prior to becoming a full time artist, I had a long, successful career in fashion and textile design. I ran a large London design studio for the Dragons' Den investor, Touker Suleyman producing garments for all of the major high street companies.

This exhibition is my love letter to my beautiful home county of Sussex. 

Within Sussex you find loud echoes of Britain's past, from 1066 and the battle of Hastings, to glimpses of it's future, hinted in the vibrant ever evolving dynamism of cities like Brighton and of course the ever present British countryside, which never fails to lift your soul.

My paintings are inspired by my walks on the South Downs, the rich history surrounding us and the emotions they evoke.
